Comparison of Propagated Pulse in Phantom between Numerical Analysis Calculated by FDTD and Experiment

چکیده
Ultrasonic measuring technique is widely using for diagnosis of osteoporosis because of its safety. A precise simulation, however, is not reported, because the behavior of ultrasonic pulse propagated in a human bone is very complicated. In this paper, ultrasonic pulse propagation in bone phantom is analyzed using elastic Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. This proposed method treats not only longitudinal wave but also shear wave in elastic media of bone. The phantom contains a cortical bone and a cancellous bone that has two components of trabecular bone and bone marrow. The aging process makes the cancellous bone fragile because the trabecular bone has been undermined. As a result of simulation, the characteristic of received waveforms was affected by the content of trabecular bone. It is also shown that the measured results agree well with numerical results by the elastic FDTD.

FDTD Analysis of Top-Hat Monopole Antennas Loaded with Radially Layered Dielectric
Top-hat monopole antennas loaded with radially layered dielectric are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Unlike the mode-matching method (MMM) (which was previously used for analyzing these antennas) the FDTD method enables us to study such structures accurately and easily. Using this method, results can be obtained in a wide frequency band by performing only one ti...

Background: This study assessed the clinical usefulness of the solid phantom, which may compensate for the disadvantages of the water phantom, by comparing the radiological doses between the two depending on their depths. Materials and Methods: The experimental equipment used was a linear accelerator for medical use, water phantom, solid phantom, Farmer type ion chamber and electrometer. The di...

Introduction: Three physical conditions caused an external beam designated as a small field. The first is the loss of lateral charged particle equilibrium. The second is the effect of collimators on the primary photon source occlusion. The third condition is the size of the detector which is large compared to the field size. The most obvious perturbation effects in last condit...
متن کاملA Time-Domain Method for Shape Reconstruction of a Target with Known Electrical Properties (RESEARCH NOTE)
This paper uses a method for shape reconstruction of a 2-D homogeneous object with arbitrary geometry and known electrical properties. In this method, the object is illuminated by a Gaussian pulse, modulated with sinusoidal carrier plane wave and the time domains’ footprint signal due to object presence is used for the shape reconstruction. A nonlinear feedback loop is used to minimize the diff...

INTRODUCTION Numerical simulation methods, mainly Time-Domain Finite-Difference (FDTD) and Finite Element Method (FEM), have been extensively used in the past decade to study B1 field distribution and RF safety, particularly for high field applications. The simulated B1 field and imaging characteristics are in good agreement with experimental measurements [1-4]. Although many simulations have c...
